MetroGroup Corp., a new company established by current and former Experian/Metromail management, has purchased the lettershop, printing and packaging services operations of Experian North America.

The deal includes Experian’s Cole Services directory division. While the terms of the purchase were not disclosed, Experian will retain a financial interest in the company, and will be a major client.

Jim McQuaid, a former chief executive officer of Metromail, will lead MetroGroup as chairman and CEO. James Drake, who had served as president of manufacturing services for Experian Marketing Services, is MetroGroup’s president.

MetroGroup is located in Lincoln, NE. The company will retain the 1,400 individuals employed when it was owned by Experian, according to an Experian press release. The transaction was backed by Sterling Capital Partners, an equity firm based in Baltimore and Chicago.
