Spiegel Inc., Downers Grove, IL, will provides customer services, marketing services and fulfillment capabilities to an e-commerce joint venture between direct mailer Otto Versand and department store Harrods.
Under the terms of the venture, two hundred Harrods-branded products will be offered, initially in the United States and Canada, to consumers during the holiday shopping season. The launch will be supported by a catalog mailing in both countries. Otto Versand, through Otto Group companies distributed around the world, will provide fulfillment and logistics services.
Separately, Spiegel has contracted with Aramex International Ltd. to distribute Spiegel catalogs throughout the Middle East. The initial foray will come this fall, when Aramex distributes Spiegel catalogs to a select group of its express and freight forwarding service customers.
“Once a fledgling business, catalogue [sic] shopping is growing into one of the Middle East’s increasingly significant channels of consumer spending,” said Aramex’s managing director, catalogue shopping service Yousef Ghandour, in a statement.
