Hewlett Packard’s Colorado Springs operation has lain off nearly 300 employees of its call center.
According to the Colorado Springs Gazette, the employees — most of them in the small- and medium business sales group — were notified of the decision when they arrived for work Tuesday and were given individual 10-minute sessions to explain their severance packages and job options.
These cutbacks are part of a corporate- wide reorganization first revealed in July that is meant to save the Palo Alto, CA company $1.6 billion a year in operating expenses. The call center will be aligned with three other divisions.
