HA-LO Industries Net Loss Increases

HA-LO Industries Inc., a Chicago-based promotional products direct marketer, reported a net loss of $11.7 million for the quarter ended June 30, exceeding the $900,000 posted for the same period last year. The firm attributed the increased loss to costs associated with the acquisition of Starbelly.com.

Sales for the quarter of 2000 increased 10.7%to $177.5 million from $160.3 million in the same period of 1999.

The net loss for the first six months of 2000 was $16.3 million, down from net income of $5.1 million for the first half of 1999.

Sales for the first six months grew 6.7% to $338.7 million from $317.3 million in the same period of 1999.
