Florida Post Office Evacuated When Worker Falls Ill

Thirty workers were evacuated from a U.S. Postal Services building on Tuesday when a worker became sick after handling a letter, according to an Associated Press report.

The worker became dizzy and nauseous at the Davie, FL building. Initial tests came back negative for chemical or biological substances. The letter was sealed in an airtight container and sent to a lab for more testing.

The worker and three others stationed nearby were decontaminated and taken to a local hospital for additional evaluation.

Davie is about 20 miles from Boca Raton where the first person died after being exposed to anthrax last year.
