DM Gains Lead Tiffany Holiday Fortunes

Spurred partly by a double-digit percentage jump in direct marketing sales, jewelry retailer Tiffany & Co. racked up $712 million in revenue during the last two months of 2005, up from $673.8 million a year ago.

Spurred partly by a double-digit percentage jump in direct marketing sales, jewelry retailer Tiffany & Co. racked up $712 million in revenue during the last two months of 2005, up from $673.8 million a year ago.

The company’s direct marketing sales rose 14%, to $63.7 million, primarily due to an increase in both order size and the number of orders placed via the Internet. Its U.S. retail sales increased 8%, to $386 million, while its international sales slipped by 1%, to $240.8 million.

Revenue from its Iridesse pearl jewelry stores, diamond wholesale operations and Little Switzerland stores were up 14%, to $21.5 million.
