Dell Computer Corp., Round Rock, TX, has opened an Application Software Center in Shanghai, China. The company began selling Intel-based servers and workstations direct to Chinese customers in person, over the phone and through the Internet in August 1998. It opened a manufacturing facility in Xiamen, China, in November of that year.
Dell has centers at its headquarters and in Limerick, Ireland. The new center is Dell’s first in Asia. The centers are designed to help Dell’s enterprise customers and independent software vendors with proof-of-concept validation, performance tuning and other aspects of using Dell systems.
