Sales for kitchenware/garden accessories cataloger and retailer Williams-Sonoma jumped 34% between third-quarter 1998 and third-quarter 1999. Strength in the company’s catalog division lead the way.
While retail sales rose almost 24%, from $153.2 million to $189.7 million, catalog sales rose even faster, increasing by nearly 53%, from $88 million to $134.4 million. The company attributed most of the catalog gains to its Pottery Barn and Pottery Barn Kids catalogs. Net earnings rose from $11 million in third-quarter 1998 to $19.4 million in 1999.
The quarter ended Oct. 31.
