Brylane, the New York-based apparel cataloger, has begun sealing all parcels it sends out in order to guard against anthrax contamination, according to wire service reports.
Pinault Printemps Redoute, Brylane’s French parent company, ordered these moves following the recent anthrax outbreaks in the U.S. postal system that have left at least two postal workers dead or injured.
The company was also mulling more comprehensive guidelines for handling potentially hazardous items.
PPR said last week that sales at Brylane fell 18.4 % in September after the terrorist attacks but showed signs of recovery towards the end of the month.
