Toronto-based BorderWare Technologies Inc., a network security provider, and Brightmail, an anti-spam technology company, have partnered to offer customers the Brightmail anti-spam technology with BorderWare’s new MXtreme Mail Firewall version 4.0.
The MXtreme Mail Firewall extends e-mail security beyond anti-spam and anti-virus controls, providing customers with an in-depth defense against a complete range of threats to e-mail, according to the company. MXtreme 4.0 adds features and functionality in five areas: security, policy enforcement, manageability, audit reporting and high availability.
Brightmail, San Francisco, filters more than 100 billion messages per month for its customers and currently protects 300 million mailboxes, an estimated 25% of all mailboxes globally, according to the company. Through an architecture of layered protection that combines source filters, signatures, heuristics, content filters and call-to-action rules to deliver an range of spam protection for e-mail environments, Brightmail Anti-Spam delivers effectiveness in blocking spam while accurately ensuring that legitimate messages are delivered.
