Three out of four Americans favor legislation that would give the U.S. Postal Service the flexibility and tools it needs to reform and improve its operations, according to the Direct Marketing Association.

A recent poll also showed that 73% of Americans "believe that solving the problems of the USPS should be a high priority." It also found that 55% believe that solving the problems of the USPS should be a high priority of Congress.

The poll, conducted by Caravan Surveys, took responses from more than 2,400 adults over 18 between Jan. 3 and Jan. 6.
