1-800-Flowers Reports Record 2Q Revenue

1-800-Flowers.com Inc. reported revenues of $197.4 million for the second quarter, up 21.6 % from $162.3 million last year.

Online revenues increased 25.2% to $75.8 million versus $60.5 million. Telephonic revenues jumped 21.9% to $114 million compared to $93.5 million. The quarter ended Dec. 29, 2002.

Management attributed the rise to increased demand for its expanded offerings of non-floral gifts, enhanced operating efficiencies and a continued focus on customer service.

Net income of $10.1 million for its second quarter was up 457% from $1.8 million the year before.

The company also reported that it attracted 1.2 million new customers during the second quarter, of which 42.7% came to the company online. About 2.2 million customer placed orders during the period, of which 46.9% were repeat customers.
