Eddie Davidson, the fugitive spammer who apparently shot and killed wife, child and himself in July, was drug and alcohol free when the murder/suicide occurred, according to his autopsy report.

Before the killings, there had been rumors among some who knew Davidson that he was a drug user.

Mike Lewinski—the technical director for business-to-business broadband provider RockyNet who once fired Davidson as a client—recounted them to this newsletter in an interview for a piece about Davidson’s well-documented volatile personality.

After the article ran, Lewinski said he got a call from a distraught Davidson family member claiming Davidson was not a drug user, which prompted Lewinski to call for the autopsy report. He provided this newsletter with a copy of it.

Though the report does not prove Davidson was not a drug user, it does prove he had no alcohol or drugs in his system when the killings took place.

In an e-mail exchange with this newsletter, Lewinski wrote the following:

On July 20, Davidson escaped from a minimum-security prison in Colorado before finishing a 21-month sentence for spamming-related crimes. Four days later, he reportedly told his wife that he was ready to turn himself in and convinced her to meet him with their three-year-old daughter, seven-month-old son and Davidson’s teenage daughter by a previous marriage.

Once at the Home Depot parking lot where they agreed to meet, Davidson reportedly forced his way into the couple’s SUV and drove the family to a home they had recently sold.

He then reportedly pulled a gun out of a bag, which he had earlier said contained a gift for the family, shot and killed his wife, their three-year-old and himself. The seven-month-old boy was found in the SUV physically unharmed. The teenage girl was shot in the neck, but managed to run to the safety of a neighbor’s home a quarter mile away.
