Drugstore chain Walgreens has named Kim L. Feil, a former Sara Lee executive, as vice president and chief marketing officer, a new position.
In her new role, Feil will be handling consumer marketing and research. The post takes effect Oct. 1. Feil will report to Walgreens’ President Greg Wasson.
Feil joins Walgreens from Sara Lee Corp., where she was senior vice president and chief marketing officer for Sara Lee North America. There, she helped revitalize the company's brand portfolio and built a new marketing organization for the firm. She joined Sara Lee in 2005 from Kimberly-Clark Corp., where she was vice president and senior marketing officer. In that role, Feil implemented the company's brand equity management process and aligned all marketers under the program.
Earlier in her career, Feil held posts at Information Resources, Inc., Cadbury Schweppes PLC and marketing positions at Pepsico, Inc.
Feil replaces George J. Riedl, the company’s executive vice president of marketing, who has been named executive vice president of merchandising. Riedl will continue to oversee pharmaceutical purchasing, front-end purchasing and merchandising, marketing services and research, global sourcing and retail concept innovation. In addition, he will be in charge of the company's new customer-centric retailing project.
Ridel’s new role also goes into effect Oct. 1, company spokesperson Michael Polzin said.
Walgreens operates 6,443 drugstores in 49 states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico.
