Award-winning direct marketing copywriter Lu Corbett Daly died on Friday at age 78.
An Alzheimer’s patient, she died at the Auxiliary House, a private care facility she had resided in since 2001, according to the Washington Post.
Daly, the wife of veteran communications specialist John Jay Daly, worked for direct mailers ranging from the Washington Post to the National Geographic Society.
In 1991, she was named as “Professional of the Year” by the Direct Marketing Association of Washington, and she also won a Direct Marketing Association ECHO award for creative work.
In 1985, her copy helped sell more than 300,000 copies of the National Geographic Society book, Discovering Britain and Ireland, the Post continued.
She is survived by her husband of 51 years, and eight children: LuAnne Daly, Deirdre Daly, Sean Daly, Maura Daly, Kate Daly Paradis, Matthew Daly and Brendan Daly.
