Web-based membership rewards company MyPoints.com has been acquired by United NewVentures for $105.8 million.
United NewVentures, a wholly-owned subsidiary of UAL Corp., manages United Airlines’ Internet initiatives and investments, according to news reports.
The deal is expected to enhance United NewVentures Internet activities and direct communications with its Mileage Plus members and users of the United.com Web site.
The combination is also expected to boost MyPoints.com’s programs when the two companies build new services for their combined customer base, United and MyPoints said in a statement.
MyPoints’ members earn points for visiting Web sites, reading e-mail and taking surveys. Points can be redeemed for merchandise, gift certificates, services and travel rewards.
