U.S. Video Viewers Spent 5 Hours and 23 Minutes Watching Online Videos in November

According to Nielsen, YouTube was the online video destination with the most unique viewers and total streams in November, while Netflix boasted the most time per viewer.

There were 166.9 million unique U.S. video viewers in November, up about 1.5 percent from the 164.4 million viewers observed in September. According to Nielsen, these viewers accounted for 21.9 billion video streams in November, up about 22.3 percent from the 17.9 billion streams in September.

In November, Nielsen observed 131.4 streams per viewer, up 20.6 percent from the 109 streams per viewer in September. The time per viewer was 5:23 (hh:mm) in November, up from 4:55 in September.

YouTube was the top online video destination in November when it came to unique viewers, finishing the month with 130.8 million viewers, up about 3.4 percent from the 126.5 million viewers it attracted in September.

VEVO followed with 42.7 million viewers, while Yahoo claimed 34.4 million viewers. Facebook was fourth with 30.3 million viewers, followed by MSN/Windows Live/Bing with 24.6 million, AOL Media Network with 22.0 million, Hulu with 20.8 million, The CollegeHumor Network with 20.6 million, ESPN Digital Network with 17.9 million and CNN Digital Network with 10.6 million.

YouTube was also the top online video destination by total streams in November, as it finished with 13.4 billion streams. Hulu followed with 819.5 million streams, while VEVO had 536.0 million streams.

AOL Media Network delivered 439.1 million streams, followed by Yahoo with 270.4 million, Netflix with 260.3 million, Cincast Digital Entertainment Websites with 237.4 million, ESPN Digital Network with 230.0 million, MSN/Windows Live/Bing with 229.0 million and Livestream with 186.2 million.

Netflix was king of the hill when it came to time per viewer, as it boasted a mark of 10:43 in November. Back in September, Netflix was also tops with a mark of 10:01.

Hulu followed with 3:11 per viewer in November, while GorillaVid had a time per viewer of 3:11. YouTube was fourth with 3:07, followed by Justin.TV with 3:00, Celeb Junkies with 2:51, Livestream with 2:38, Megavideo with 2:31, CWTV.com with 1:57 and Tudou.com with 1:18.

A report from Adap.tv and Digiday found that brand advertisers that purchased online video ads in 2011 are expected to spend 47 percent more in 2012.
