In a partnership with the New York Road Runners club, Toyota will give entrants a chance to get some literal mileage out of this year’s 40th running of the ING New York City Marathon. Consumers who correctly pick the male and female winners of the race next month could stand to win a 2010 Toyota Prius hybrid vehicle in the car marker’s “Pick the Champions” sweepstakes.
Players can sign up to make their choices and enter the contest. There they can also examine the profiles of 10 professional competitors in each gender category, log in and send their picks for the likely winner in both the men’s and women’s fields. Entrants can also sign up for the contest and sweepstakes at Toyota’s “Engines of Change” booth at the ING New York Marathon Health & Fitness Expo preceding the race.
Once they’ve selected their potential winners, players can change their votes at the Web site up until the starting gun for the race goes off at 8 a.m. Eastern time on Sunday, November 1.
Once the marathon is over, a contest winner will be named from those who picked correctly both the male and female pro winners. If more than one entrant had both correct winners, a random drawing will award the prize. If no one had both winners, Toyota, the NYRR and RealTime Media will hold a random drawing from among all the contest registrants.
The grand prize winner will get a 2010 standard-equipped Toyota Prius hybrid car. First prize awards will be five pairs of Asics Gel-Kayano 16 running shoes; five second-prize winners will get Timex Ironman Sleek watches.
