Shoemaker Teva has extended its title sponsorship of the Teva Mountain Games through 2006.
Volkswagen of North America is returning as presenting sponsor and Gore-Tex Fabrics and General Nutrition Centers came aboard as sponsors for the multi-sport Games on June 3-6 in Vail, CO.
The Games launched last year with Teva and Volkswagen. Event organizers expect 1,000-plus competitors and 20,000 spectators, as well as TV coverage on NBC, Fox Sports Net and VH1. Untraditional Marketing, Vail, owns the event and handles sponsorships.
“The Mountain Games are a natural fit for us,” said Teva sports marketing manager Adam Druckman in a statement. “Our brand is lifestyle driven, and we support core events like the Mountain Games that unite people for recreational, social and environmental causes.”
Gore-Tex will sponsor a “Sounds of the Games” concert series; GNC will sponsor an adventure sprint race added this year. Competition events include kayaking, rock climbing, whitewater rafting, mountain biking and trail running. Other activities include a mountain photography competition and an interactive exhibition and demo area.
