Survey: Web Users Think Global, Browse Local

About 87% of Americans online use the Internet to access local information, according to a survey of 1,000 online users conducted by SWR Worldwide and sponsored by uswestdex.com, the newly relaunched Web site of US West Dex.

Of that 87%, four out of five are using the Internet more to research local information than they did a year ago, with close to a third do so more than once a day.

The survey also found that close to two-thirds of the respondants would use the Internet to schedule a appointment with a doctor, make a reservation at a restaurant, or even order a pizza.
