Sport Supply Group, Inc., Dallas, has acquired Conlin Bros. Sporting Goods. Serving principally the California market, the addition of Conlin Bros. increases Sport Supply Group’s sales in California, already one of Sport Supply’s biggest markets, by more than 50 percent. Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
Chairman Kenneth Conlin will stay with Conlin Bros. for at least one year. Sport Supply Group plans to will expand its California market through the Conlin Bros. name.
“California is one of the hottest sporting goods markets in the country due to a large, active population and great climate,” said Sport Supply Group president and COO John Walker in a statement. “The acquisition expands our growth opportunities in California. We will be approaching a bigger customer base there, with a much broader range of products and larger sales staff.”
Sport Supply Group is a direct marketer of sporting goods equipment to the institutional market place. The Company’s products and proprietary brands are used by amateur and professional athletes in schools, colleges, universities, governmental agencies, camps and youth organizations across the country.
