Sporting goods company Russell Athletic took off running with a mobile tour last week that will give sports fans the opportunity to win prizes, play interactive games, learn about the company’s history and view its new products.
The Everyday Performance Tour debuted on Aug. 18 in Williamsport, PA, for the 60th Little League World Series. There, the tour’s vehicle will display Little League history items until the competition ends on Aug. 27. Atlanta-based Russell Athletic recently renewed a five-year contract with Little League.
From there the tour will hit college campuses and retail stores across the Southeast.
The college component of the tour will kickoff during the football season opener between Georgia Tech and Notre Dame on Sept. 2. Russell Athletic is a sponsor of Georgia Tech’s athletic program.
Several stops will then be made at Russell Athletic-sponsored campuses on football game days. For some of the biggest games of the college football season, Russell Athletic will set up fan zones and tailgate areas. Meanwhile, during the week, the touring vehicle will make stops at Russell Athletic retailers and local high schools.
Stops at Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) are also planned for the duration of the three-month tour. The sporting goods company sponsors all 49 HBCU schools outfitting up to 500 men and women’s athletic teams in sports activities that include football, basketball, tennis, bowling and track and field. The tour will also visit rivalry football match-ups in Columbia, SC, Dallas, TX, Starkville, MS and Fayetteville, NC.
At each stop, Russell Athletic will unload interactive elements including a basketball goal, football toss and chin-up competitions for fans to participate. Branded premiums will also be distributed.
Inside and outside of the touring vehicle will feature sporting good’s products, and will highlight Russell Athletic’s Dri-Power Fleece which helps to keep athletes dry. In addition, the history of the company from its 1902 beginnings to the introduction of its fleece sweatshirts and woven athletic uniforms will be incorporated into the tour.
The tour ends on Nov. 25 at the Bayou Classic in New Orleans.
