The Recording Academy unveiled an extensive list of sponsors with diverse activations for the upcoming 51st Grammy Awards, including CBS Interactive, which is again giving music fans a shot at a Grammys cameo appearance.
CBS.com is running a “My Grammy Moment” competition for the third year. Fans can upload sing-along videos of Grammy nominee Katy Perry’s “I Kissed A Girl” for a chance to have the video played during Perry’s performance during the show. CBS will broadcast coverage of the Grammys in primetime on Feb. 8.
Second-year sponsor T-Mobile has been running a sweepstakes since early December with T-Mobile Sidekick, offering a trip for two to Los Angeles to attend this year’s Grammy Awards. USA Today will bring three of its readers to the Grammys in a sweepstakes contest in its role as official newspaper of the awards.
Long-time sponsor Hilton Hotels is partnering with the Grammy Museum to launch an online contest focused on developing local music industries by providing grants to communities across the country.
As the official international digital music retail and handset partner, Nokia will promote the GRAMMY Awards to its worldwide users, providing content never before available in the Nokia Music Store.
Harman International joins the party as official sound partner. Harman will provide products to be integrated into the backstage Grammy green room, and in official gift bags handed out to Grammy presenters and performers.
Delta Airlines returns for the second year as official airline for the Grammys. Delta will feature the 2009 GRAMMY Nominees CD tracklist as part of its in-flight programming through March and April.
The Academy is also collaborating with promotional partners Borders, Evite, Hard Rock Cafe and iTunes.
Borders has created a dedicated Grammy page at BordersMedia.com/grammy where music fans can buy Grammy-nominated tunes, watch clips of red carpet interviews, and notable performances and acceptance speeches from past Grammy shows.
Apple iTunes has offered Academy voting members the opportunity to listen to all Grammy-nominated music in a variety of categories.
Evite has created custom Grammy / Hard Rock online invitations to promote Grammy viewing parties.
Hard Rock Café, which has also run a contest for a trip to the Grammys, is the official venue for Grammy viewing parties. It has also created a collectible 51st Grammy pin that is available online at hardrock.com with a portion of the proceeds benefiting The Grammy Museum and its music programs.
