R.H. Donnelley Corp. is consolidating its publishing operations, eliminating 190 jobs in the Blountville, TN facility and other locations.
The move by the yellow pages directories publisher is part of the integration plan R.H. Donnelley announced when it acquired Sprint Publishing and Advertising in January for $2.23 billion. Sprint prints 260 yellow pages directories in 18 states.
R.H. Donnelley will consolidate most of its publishing operations into the Raleigh, NC, facility, closing the Blountville, TN location.
The company will continue to operate customer service, white pages production and graphics functions at the Bristol, TN, site.
Some of the 110 employees affected by the consolidation will be offered jobs at other facilities, the company said in a statement.
Consolidations have also begun in Overland, KS and at the Purchase, NY headquarters. These will result in cutting 80 positions.
R.H. Donnelley’s Raleigh facility has seen staff reductions as well. During 2002, several positions that became open through attrition were not filled, according to papers filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission.
The company employs 1,600 people, according to its Web site. It generated $589.7 million in revenue during 2002, and reported net income of $42.5 million.
