The Tax Rap

TurboTax is putting a fun twist on tax season to get people to rap for cash. People upload rap videos about taxes to youtube.com/contest/thetaxrap for a chance to win $25,000. The company tapped rapper Vanilla Ice, a.k.a Rob Van Winkle, to promote the contest. The musician kicked off the promotion with his own music video on YouTube. The contest runs through March 30. Consumers can vote for their favorite video on YouTube between March 31 and April 8.

Jim Beam Brands gives its auto-racing sweeps a second lap this year, sending one grand-prize winner to the Indy 500 in Indianapolis and the Coca-Cola 600 in Charlotte, NC, on the same day. Fans enter at JimBeam.com through April 14 to vie for a trip for four to both races, including VIP passes, a private jet ride between the races and three rides on Indy’s track. Drivers Andretti and Robby Gordon, both sponsored by Jim Beam, lend their own private jets for the trip. Sweeps entrants must be members of, or join, the brand’s “Brotherhood of Bourbon” club.

Go Organic for Earth Day

This annual retail tie-in with The Earth Day Network brings brand-sponsored activities to 3,500 supermarkets nationally on April 22, Earth Day. Thirty organic manufacturers sponsor sampling, cooking demos and a coupon book (available in stores through April). A sweepstakes will award a grand-prize trip to The Crossings spa in Austin, TX. Entrants take an “organic smarts” quiz to enter. Two separate sweepstakes will award Miyim organic stuffed animals and products from some of the participating brands.

P&G brandSAVER500

P&G kicked off its first multi-brand campaign tied to the stock car racing season. Coupons in the P&G brandSaver500 coupon booklet feature a five-digit race code that can be entered online to play a racing game. An icon featuring a checkered flag identifies coupons for the six participating brands: Bounty, Gillette, Old Spice, Pringles, Prilosec and ThermaCare. The brandSaver booklet will be inserted monthly in select newspapers through Sept. 2. A dedicated Web site, PGBrandsaver500.com, hosts the game and a sweepstakes. Ten grand-prize winners get airfare for two, two nights hotel stay, two race tickets, $500 spending money, VIP access and the chance to meet P&G sponsored drivers.

Microsoft is supporting its newest small-business product, Microsoft Office Live, with an online sweepstakes. Small business owners can register for a chance to win 10 hours of private jet travel for seven people with Marquis Jet. Consumers can register on officeliveoffers.com/sweepstakes. Microsoft will also award instant-win prizes, including a laptops and $100 Best Buy and Comp USA gift cards. The sweepstakes runs through March 7.

Triple Play Sweepstakes

Comcast has partnered with the Boston Red Sox for a contest where fans in Vermont, Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Maine can enter to win one of 225 pairs of tickets to the team’s home opener on Tuesday, April 10. Players are automatically entered when they sign up for Comcast High-Speed Internet and Digital Cable service for six months at a special introductory price of $74.99 per month. The contest at MakeaTriplePlay.com ends March 11.
