Shawn Donnelley, manager of political affairs for Chicago-based R.R. Donnelley & Sons Co., lost her bid to secure the Republican nomination in Illinois’ 10th Congressional District. She came in second out of a field of 10.
The winner of the nomination, Mark Kirk, was endorsed by retiring 10th District Rep. John Porter. Kirk had previously been one of Porter’s aides. The primary was held March 21.
Donnelley was not available at deadline to comment on her future plans.
Donnelley’s knowledge would have served her fellow Republicans well. According to House GOP conference chairman J.C. Watts (R-OK), “E-commercials have a proven 70% response rate.” In contrast, Watts noted that direct mail has a response rate of 10% to 15%.
Oh, really?
