PlayStation 2 and the House of Blues are re-teaming for the Dual Play club tour. Merging video gaming and dance club nightlife, the tour, which is comprised of two bi-coastal legs with two DJs each, kicks off this Friday in Atlanta and runs through June 6. The inaugural Dual Play tour took place in October.
Dual Play will bring top-rated DJs to 24 performances in 17 cities. At the venues, scenes of the live club audience will be projected on screens and blended with footage of new and soon-to-be-released gaming titles. “It was a challenge for us to figure out how to reach them since they are inside the club from 10 p.m. to 3 a.m. and they are opposed to corporate branding,” says Donna Armentor, senior manager in Foster City, CA-based Sony Computer Entertainment America’s promotions department. “We decided the projection screen and some banners and nothing ostentatious was appropriate and subtly had branding.”
From now through April 3, fans can visit www.us.playstation.com/dualplay to register for a chance to win tickets to a local show featuring two of the DJs, dinner, a $200 gift certificate to an urban fashion boutique and a PlayStation 2 gaming console. Then from April 4 through May 5, fans can enter to win a trip to House of Blues in Las Vegas for a Dual Play show on Memorial Day weekend. The House of Blues and Spundae produce and promote the tour.
