Pizza Hut is targeting Facebook users with a sweepstakes offering a trip to Italy to hype up its new Tuscani Lasagna.
People who create or log in to a Facebook account and join the Pizza Hut Fan Group through March 7 will automatically be entered into the “Passport to Italy” sweepstakes. One grand-prize winner will receive a six-night trip for two to Italy valued at $10,000. The prize includes a sightseeing package daily breakfast buffet and $2,000 in spending money.
“We wanted a unique way to celebrate the arrival of this delicious new dish, and with more than half a million Pizza Hut fans on Facebook already, we thought this sweepstakes was the perfect match for Tuscani Lasagna,” Bob Kraut, a Pizza Hut spokesperson, said in a statement.
Tuscani Lasagna is the latest in the Tuscani Pastas line from Pizza Hut. Last April, Pizza Hut introduced Tuscani Pastas in Meaty Marinara and Creamy Chicken Alfredo varieties, and it added Premium Bacon Mac ‘N Cheese in September.
Pizza Hut already has lots of Facebook fans. It launched a new application for Facebook Platform, which lets customers to order food for delivery without leaving the Web site. Since then, more than 709,000 people have joined the Pizza Hut Fan Group, the company said.
Online marketing supports the sweepstakes. IMC2 created the Facebook. Pizza hut handles the sweepstakes internally.
