Troy, MI, expects to post a profit for November and December despite a same-store sales decline of 13.5%. Kmart credits lean inventory and fewer unprofitable promotions, Reuters reported. Sales for the two months were $5.1 billion, down from $6.9 billion for November-December 2002.

MCCORMICK & CO: Hunt Valley, MD, wraps up an online sweeps next month that e-mails recipes to players. The McCormick Adds the Flavor instant-win game runs through January. Players register for McCormick’s monthly e-newsletter Flavor Notes, then click on recipes to see if they won. ePrize, Farmington Hills, MI, handles.

MASTERFOODS USA: Hackettstown, NJ, licensed its M&Ms brand to Creative Designs International, Feasterville, PA, for a line of toys starting with an ice cream maker that ships to retail this spring. Plans call for a cookie baking set, vending machine bank and plastic play food sets.

CSA MARKETING: Miami, FL, adds a Puerto Rico office to establish a toehold as a promotions resource to reach Puerto Ricans, who wielded an estimated $41.7 billion in buying power in 2002. Bristol Myers veteran Pablo Pons will head the new office, which complements CSA’s work targeting Hispanics elsewhere in the U.S.

BROADWAY’S: annual Seasons of Savings campaign officially started Monday, with the distribution of 1.7 million Seasons of Savings Playbill-themed brochures in newspapers and at the Times Square Visitor’s Center, the I Love NY Visitors Booth in Grand Central Station, Macy’s Department Store, Bloomingdale’s Department Store and the Virgin Megastore. Seasons of Savings, a twice-yearly audience outreach effort first launched in 2001, offers reduced theater admission, discounts to hotels, parking, restaurants and transportation. The discounts are valid for performances Jan. 4 to March 18, 2004.
