THE WRITERS GUILD OF AMERICA: has increased its stance against product placement, launching a parody video of brand integration into TV and films. The video, available at Productinvasion.com, ridicules product placement in films and reality TV shows. The effort is the latest attempt by the Writers Guild to call companies’ attention to stop the practice.

MODEM MEDIA: Norwalk, CT, hired Frank Gallon as chief operating officer, a new post at the digital and direct-marketing agency owned by Digitas. Gallon, who joined Modem Media on March 6, had been CFO and COO of IPG-owned digital marketing shop R/GA.

THE J. BROWN AGENCY: Stamford, CT, promoted Vince Weiner to executive VP-business development, a new post overseeing new-business efforts at J. Brown’s four offices. Weiner had been president of the Stamford office; he’s replaced in that job by Mike Scheiner and Susan Arditi, who both take the title of managing director. J. Brown ranked No. 52 in the 2005 PROMO 100 with estimated 2004 net revenues of $31 million, up 8% from 2002.
