Montgomery Ward Holding Corp. emerged from Chapter 11 bankruptcy court protection yesterday when it was acquired by a GE Capitol Inc., a unit of General Electric Co. The $650 million purchase includes Signature, Montgomery Ward’s direct marketing division.
The company changed its name to Wards while closing over 100 outlets that were losing money, renovating over 40 stores, and upgrading its product lines.
