Caremark Rx Inc. reported net income of $290.7 million for the fourth quarter, up from $205.1 million last year.
Thanks largely to a 30% increase in mail order pharmacy revenue, the Nashville, TN firm reported net revenue of $8.4 billion for the quarter ended Dec. 31, up 4% from $8.1 billion last year.
“2005 was a very good year, both for our clients as well as our shareholders,” said CEO Mac Crawford in a statement. “Caremark saw strong growth in mail penetration and generic dispensing rates during the year, helping our clients effectively manage a very important part of their healthcare costs and generating strong financial results for our shareholders.”
