Live from CADM: Rogers Townsend Wins Tempo Best in Show

The St. Louis-based Rodgers Townsend agency took home the best in show honor Thursday night at the Chicago Association of Direct Marketing’s 34th annual Tempo Awards ceremony.

Rodgers Townsend won the Past President’s Award best-in-show award for the “Maritz Worst Case Scenario” campaign created for Maritz Travel. The campaign also took first place honors in the creative achievement in the business direct mail category.

The Maritz campaign was created to prospect to meeting planners and marketing executive, using “war stories” about things that had gone wrong in different situations.

Overall, Rodgers Townsend won 13 category awards. Other big winners includes The Marketing Store of Oakbrook Terrace, IL, which received 15 Tempos; Foote Cone & Belding, nine awards; DDB Chicago, eight awards; and Digitas, Grey and Two By Four Communications, which each went home with four honors.

The Marketing Store received the Jay Gondelman Award for first place creative achievements and marketing results in the Internet display advertising category for the “Build Your Own Rocket” campaign for Verizon Wireless, an online sweepstakes which captured 543,452 opt-in responses, 58, 234 sweepstakes entries and 6,881 clickthroughs from a follow-up e-mail campaign.
