LeadDog Buys Sports Consultancy

LeadDog Marketing Group has bought Epic, a sports events consultancy, to build out its sports marketing work and position the agency for international work.

Epic handles planning and operations for large-scale sporting events. The shop has worked on the last seven Olympic Games, two FIFA World Cups, the Pan Am Games, Commonwealth Games and Asian Games.

Epic founder Alan Shaw stays with the consultancy, which keeps its name and its Atlanta headquarters. That gives New York-based LeadDog its first presence in the Southeast.

Shaw, who takes the title of managing director under LeadDog, worked for the Atlanta Committee for the 1996 Olympic Games and was on the 1994 FIFA World Cup USA organizing committee.

Financial terms of the deal, which closed June 6, were not disclosed.

LeadDog ranked No. 28 in the 2007 Promo 100 with 2006 net revenue of $3.8 million, up 186% from 2004.
