Kroger Co., Cincinnati, last week broke a joint promotion with DreamWorks Consumer Products, Glendale, CA, giving shoppers in 2,000 stores a chance to earn free tickets to “Shrek” which opens May 18.
Shoppers who buy $300 in groceries using their Kroger Plus frequent-shopper card earn a pair of tickets. TV, radio, print, direct mail, and heavy P-O-P activity support. Many stores will offer Shrek-themed goodies including cookies and other treats, photo ops with a Shrek standee at one-hour photo booths, coloring and cupcake-decorating contests, and premiums.
DreamWorks Consumer Products marketing chief Anne Globe calls the effort “the biggest supermarket promotion of any kind to date.”
