JiWire Inc. has launched an advertising network for targeting log-in screens used at thousands of Wi-Fi hotspots. Inaugural members include Toshiba and Sony and nine wireless Internet service providers.
The network will target advertising geographically and by venues. Geographic targeting options include regions, states, cities and hotspots. Venue targeting includes hotels, airports, cafes and convention centers.
According to a JiWire survey 77% of hotspot users have household incomes in excess of $50,000. About 55% of hotspot users identify themselves as corporate level executives, vice presidents and managers.
