Intercontinental Hotels Group has created a new global marketing team to drive brand development.
The team will be in charge of innovation, insights, architecture and design, capability development and performance strategy and planning across its hotel brands. In addition, it will oversee the development of Holiday Inn, Holiday Inn Express and Crowne Plaza brands. In addition, it will help lead and support regional sales and marketing activity in Europe, Middle East and Africa, Asia Pacific and the Americas.
The new leadership structure will focus on aligning worldwide brand strategy, uncovering consumer insights and turning them into marketing actions, the company said.
Regina Lewis joins IHG as vice president of consumer insights. She had worked as vice president of consumer and brand insights at Dunkin’ Donuts for more than three years. Lewis reports to Nina Bibby, IHG’s senior vice president, worldwide brand management.
Mark Snyder, the senior vice president, worldwide brand management for Holiday Inn in the Americas, will assume global responsibility for the Holiday Inn and Holiday Inn Express brands. It marks the first time both entities will be under a single marketing leadership.
Kevin Kowalski has been named senior vice president, worldwide brand management, for Crowne Plaza. He recently oversaw the Crowne Plaza brand in the company’s Americas region. Isaac Collazo, vice president of performance strategy and planning continue in his role handling brand planning, performance measurement and analysis.
The marketing team will help the company “strengthen our global brand identities and develop real brand innovation and differentiation while aligning our worldwide marketing activity to create great hotels guests love,” said Chief Marketing Officer Peter Gowers in a statement.
The team will be based at the company’s regional head office in Atlanta.
The hotel chain appointed Gowers to chief executive of its Asia Pacific region, a post he will begin on Nov. 1. The company is recruiting a new chief marketing officer to replace him.
IHG owns InterContinental Hotels & Resorts, Crowne Plaza, Holiday Inn, Holiday Inn Express, Hotel Indigo, Staybridge Suites and Candlewood Suites. It operates 3,700 hotels around the world.
