Harry & David Holdings Inc. posted a net loss of $9.7 million for the fourth quarter, compared to a net loss of $4.3 million the prior year.
The Medford, OR company attributed these results in part to weaker net sales in its Jackson & Perkins segment. Those were caused by reduced wholesale rose demand, higher markdowns of garden home decor products and lower circulation of higher page-count catalogs.
The direct marketer reported net sales of $83.5 million for the quarter ended June 24, a 12.9% jump over net sales of $74 million last year.
The company posted direct marketing sales of $40.4 million for the quarter, a 15.9 % increase over the prior year.
