John H. Harland Company, an Atlanta-based checks, database marketing software, direct marketing campaign management and loan automation software provider, has announced a streamlining of its operations. The streamlining will include decentralization of operations and at least 100 layoffs from the corporate headquarters in Atlanta.
As part of the restructuring, Harland’s check business will be divided into three geographic regions. Each region will be responsible for the manufacturing, sales, customer support and administrative functions in its area. A new software division will be created that will embrace Harland’s Decision Support business in Orlando and its compliance business in Denver. The company anticipates that this division will grow to include additional software-based products and services.
Scantron Corporation, a wholly owned subsidiary that provides software services and systems for the collection, management and interpretation of data to the educational markets, will continue to operate from its headquarters in Tustin, CA.
