Fans attending last weekend’s NASCAR events in Charlotte, NC, got the chance to try out Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co.’s new interactive educational Web site.
The Goodyear Garage was up and running at Internet kiosks at Lowe’s Motor Speedway, the day the site went live at www.goodyeargarage.com .
At the site, consumers can bid on driver memorabilia and win vehicles customized by NASCAR drivers Mark Martin, Kasey Kahne, Ryan Newman and Kevin Harvick. A sweepstakes dangles a grand prize Ford Explorer customized by Martin. Promotion Mechanics Inc., Newtown, CT, is the sweepstakes administrator.
Racers donate items for the site’s online auction, with the proceeds going to each driver’s favorite charity. Goodyear has pledged an additional $25,000 to each driver’s charity of choice.
The kiosks will be at three more NASCAR Nextel Cup races as part of a 50-foot by 60-foot garage-themed mobile display unit. It will serve as an interactive museum highlighting Goodyear’s new products and innovations as well as a timeline of the Akron, OH-based company’s 50-year NASCAR sponsorship history. The display will travel to the July 2 Pepsi 400 race at Daytona Speedway, the Sept. 4 California 400 in Fontana, and the Nov. 20 Ford 400 at Homestead-Miami Speedway.
