Canadian telemarketing companies and officers Jean-Pierre Brault and Eli Foner have been barred from selling, leasing, renting or transferring consumer lists or other consumer information, as part of a court settlement with the Federal Trade Commission.
The FTC accused JPE Holdings, Fusion Telekon and 9131-4740 Quebec Inc. of making misleading statements as part of telemarketing campaign and calling numbers on the Do Not Call (DNC) list registry.
The U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Ohio, Eastern Division, found also that these telemarketing companies failed to pay for access to the DNC list registry, as required by law.
