we've got a lot to talk about
for the week of May 12, 2019

We’re feeling like jetsetters this week, so take a trip with us, won’t you?

Puerto Rico has been working hard to get visitors—and their tourism dollars—to return to the island following the devastation of Hurricane Maria nearly two years ago. Leah Chandler, CMO of the Destination Marketing Organization overseeing the city’s efforts to get tourism back on track, gives us the scoop.

Marketers around the world have felt the impact of the General Data Protection Regulations, which went into effect one year ago this month. But aside from privacy notice pop-ups all over the place, has it really had a significant difference in the lives of marketers or consumers? It turns out not everyone has the bandwidth to oversee the scope of GDPR, including the governing bodies that have to carry it out.

Ryme City is the fictional locale of Pokémon: Detective Pikachu and Ryan Reynolds wants to make sure you visit when the film opens this weekend. The actor executed an epic social stunt when he rickrolled everyone into thinking a pirated copy of the entire movie had been leaked online.

Back in the USA, Ellie Mae took an omnichannel approach to engage B2B attendees at its annual Experience event in San Francisco this year. Read how the mortgage software developer is using content and data to connect with lenders before the show and serve up relevant content after everyone goes home.

We’ve found lot more on our travels, like Cheez-It’s snappy scavenger hunt and Relation Insurance’s road to renaming. Have a read and we’ll see you back here next week.
