Last weekend following a race at the California Speedway, NASCAR driver Kyle Petty began to ride his Victory Motorcycle more than 3,000 miles as part of the 2004 Chick-fil-A Kyle Petty Charity Ride Across America.
This year marks the 10th anniversary of the annual cross-country motorcycle journey featuring more than 200 NASCAR celebrities, sponsors and fans. This is the first year that Chick-fil-A restaurant has been the event’s title sponsor and this event marks the beginning of a multi-year sponsorship.
The ride kicked off in Palm Desert, CA on May 1 and will make overnight stops in various cities. The ride concludes May 8 at a private event in Randleman, NC at the Victory Junction Gang Camp, the ride’s main benefactor.
Kyle and Pattie Petty founded Victory Junction, a camp for children with chronic or life-threatening illnesses in memory of their son, Adam, who was killed in a racing accident four years ago. The camp is scheduled to open this summer and will serve as a year-round retreat at no charge to the campers or their families.
