Major League Soccer prodigy Freddy Adu celebrated his 15th birthday by inking a pitchman deal with Campbell Soup Co. Campbell also has signed a sponsorship deal with Adu’s team, D.C. United.
Adu will be featured in Campbell’s advertising campaign set to debut this fall. The company also plans to feature Adu in several other capacities, including on national promotional materials, on in-store P-O-P materials and on the company’s Web site. He will appear on behalf of Campbell’s iconic Chicken Noodle Soup, the company’s top-selling product for more than 25 years.
Adu joins other teen personalities including rapper Bow Wow and actress/singer Mandy Moore as Campbell’s spokespeople.
SportsNet, LLC, Los Angeles, handled the deal.
