Borders Group, Inc. has a new vice president of customer loyalty.
Dan Angus joined the firm Jan. 4, bringing with him more than 15 years of retail experience, with specific expertise in direct marketing, customer relationship management and brand development, Borders said.
In his new role, he will be responsible for leading the loyalty marketing programs and initiatives. He will direct the development of customer relationship marketing strategies and is also charged with growing the Borders Rewards loyalty program from its current roster of more than 35 million members.
Angus will report to Borders Group senior vice president of marketing Bill Dandy, another relative newcomer to the firm: He joined Borders in November.
Prior to joining Borders, Angus, 38, worked for Guitar Center as vice president of customer relationship marketing. Prior to that he worked for two years at Chico’s FAS, Inc. as senior director of marketing responsible for all direct marketing and loyalty initiatives for Chico’s, Soma Intimates and White House/Black Market.
He has also held marketing positions at Express, Dick’s Sporting Goods and American Eagle Outfitters.
“Dan’s reputation in the industry is second to none for delivering highly engaging and impactful customer loyalty programs,” Dandy said in a release. “We look forward to Dan quickly taking the Borders Rewards program to best-of-class status.”
