Performing rights organization BMI and LicenseMusic.com, a provider of online music licensing services have signed an agreement enabling BMI to provide the online licensing for performance rights for music offered to Web sites by LicenseMusic.com.
Under the terms of the agreement, Web sites licensing music from LicenseMusic.com will be able to obtain the rights for use of master recordings and compositions in audio-visual productions
This agreement comes amidst the legal controversy surrounding digital music downloads and alleged copyright infringement.
