Blyth, Inc. reported net earnings of $10 million for the first quarter, down from $17.7 million last year.
The candle direct marketer reported net sales of $355.8 million for the quarter ended April 30, down 1% from $359 million last year.
The Greenwich, CT firm reported catalog and Internet net sales of $36.2 million for the quarter, down 12% from $40.5 million last year.
Management attributed these results to “the absence of Walter Drake’s Homewares catalog, as well as overall softness in Blyth’s catalog titles.”
Blyth sold off Walter Drake to Miles Kimball last year.
