What has become a widespread exercise in imitation is now a contest, as Beyonce is inviting fans to submit videos to her “Single Ladies” tune, with the winner to have his or her clip shown during the singer’s upcoming “I Am…” world tour.
The grand-prize winner of the video contest will also receive $2,500 along with the exposure on the concert tour.
The video Beyonce released featuring her in leotard and high heels with two dancers has been parodied on “Saturday Night Live” by Justin Timberlake, Andy Samberg, and Bobby Moynihan, and has also been imitated in numerous iterations on YouTube.
The “Single Ladies” contest is open to people 18 and older in the U.S., the UK and Japan as well as Argentina, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada (excluding Quebec province), Hong Kong, Ireland, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, the Philippines, Portugal, Russia, Singapore and Switzerland. The deadline for submissions is March 6.
