AT&T is planning to pump up the volume around the Final Four this weekend with a lineup of pop groups performing in San Antonio’s HemisFair Park before the final games of the National Collegiate Athletic Association Men’s Basketball Tournament take place.
Pop-punk band Fall Out Boy, hip-hop funk bank The Roots and power-pop band Ludo will all play in tonight’s concert, which will be streamed live on the AT&T blue room at http://www.attblueroom.com. Video content from the performances also will be available to AT&T wireless customers via Cellular Video on or before May 1.
On Saturday, AT&T will also have several interactive stations as part of the NCAA’s Hoop City celebration in the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center. These will include a Fast Fingers Challenge, with up to four contestants at a time competing to text a message as quickly as they can. Prizes include coolers and AT&T-branded sling packs.
“We are trying to showcase our services in a fun interactive way,” said Jamie Kerr, AT&T senior manager of national sponsorships.
The concert and the other activities are aimed at drawing the attention of college-age fans attending the Final Four games and local residents of all ages attending the weekend festivities, Kerr said.
People can able have their photos taken—with AT&T handsets— with replicas of the Naismith Trophy, an AT&T-sponsored award given to the outstanding men’s and women’s basketball players of the year. Bluetooth printer technology will enable immediate reproductions of the photos.
At a Live Bar station, visitors will also be able to view AT&T Cellular Video content, experience MusicID, which enables identification of a tune and its artist, or create their own ringtones.
