24/7 Real Media Cuts Net Loss as Revenue Falls

Marketing and technology firm 24/7 Real Media reported a net loss of just under $200 million for 2001, an improvement over 2000’s loss of $780 million. But the company’s revenue fell as well, from $146.1 million to $52.4 million.

For the fourth quarter, the firm’s net loss declined to $36.2 million from $677.1 million, while revenue dropped from $26.1 million to $11.3 million. The quarter and the year ended Dec. 31.

During the year the company disposed of non-core assets, including 24.7 Latino, Sabela Media and Award track in January 2001, and Exactis in May2001. Collectively these accounted for 27% of the New York-based company’s fourth quarter 2000 revenue.

The company’s current strategy calls for it to focus on its Open AdStream advertising server technology, its advertising network, and its 38 million-name permission-based e-mail database.
